Elder Martinsen

I forgot I even had a blog until a minute ago..! If anyone even reads this, I would like to annouce that my mission papers have been sent to Salt Lake!

I had a dream last night that I got called to Deleware. But I dont think it was a valid dream because the ending was kinda innapropriate... just kidding haha. but seriously.

I have never been so joyful about the gospel. I have literally been up all night long reading about Joseph Smith, and from the Book of Mormon. ( even ask my family! )

Im so thankful for all of my aunts and uncles that are so strong and a great example to me.

I looked forward all day to FHE. Turns out there was me, and one other guy that showed up.. But it was still good. Any social interaction is a treat for me right now.

My Hilarious Sister Emma

A conversation with my mom about my sister emma:

Tara says:
the house is quiet this week. only Lora and Emma are here all week
>>
Alex Martinsen says:
thats amazing
>>
Tara says:
emma has been cracking me up...saying the funniest things this week
>>
Alex Martinsen says:
haha I miss herrrrr
>>
Tara says:
she had on a swim suit yesterday that had a flower sewn onto the top right side of it...
>>
Tara says:
she got cold and put a shirt on...then she looked down and said "oh no, that is not gonna work"...
>>
Tara says:
people will look at me and say , oh that poor little girl only has one little boob starting to grow!
>>
Tara says:
I laughed so hard!
>>
Alex Martinsen says:
im cracking up
>>

Tara says:
then she has developed this huge fear of wasps....they sometimes are around the pool
>>
Tara says:
she will not go out side even to swim and so she asked me to say a prayer that Heavenly Father would protect her from the wasps
>>
Tara says:
after I did...she was just quiet for a second...and she said, I still can't go outside because I am worried that that is just not Heavenly Fathers plan for me
>>
Alex Martinsen says:
hahaha
>>
Tara says:
i said, you think his plan is for you to be attacked by wasps??
>>
Tara says:
she was like, well, he does have a plan for me mom
>>
Tara says:
so cute
>>
Tara says:
she just snuggled in your bed for about 10 minutes
>>
Tara says:
i think she misses you too

My Papa

My dad is pretty much exactly how I want to be when I grow up. We are so much alike, and we really get each others sense of humor. He treats my mama so incredibly well, and puts everyone's needs before his own.

He is the emotionally secure one in the family. Thank heaven for that. I think about my Dad everyday, and am just so blessed that he is mine.
Happy Fathers Day!

The New Slice

Check the new cut!
I did it myself.
Well, Brent helped a little.
I didnt know what to do about the little hairs sticking over my ears since all we had were clippers and no scissors....
So i used Joe's cuticle scissors.. Dont tell him.

Today is Friday. Friday the thirteenth. My alarm went off at 8:00. I rolled over and hit the snooze with a touch of violence.

I had planned to get up early and get some work done so that I would have less this afternoon. My first class wasnt until 11:30, so I decided to snooze for a while. Well at somepoint I went one step further than pushing snooze, and I turned the phone (my alarm clock) off...

I awoke again, and thinking a half hour had probably passed, I just laid there and looked at the ceiling, enjoying the moment. I rolled over and glanced at the clock...... 11:15. I need to be out of my apartment and on the road at 11:15 in order to make it to my class on time.

I jumped out of bed, showered, brushed my teeth did my hair, put on some clothes, and even printed out todays homework.

I ran up the stairs where my bike was parked and in pure humility (for that is the only way my bike can be ridden) I flew down the street, turned right, went up the hill, turned left, went down the hill turned right onto the campus sidewalk and gave it all I had for the next 100 yards till I arrived at the bike rack. I went in the side door, up the 1st flight of stairs, up the second, up the third and up the fourth. I rounded the corner with a slow jog down the hall, turned left and headed for the last door on the right. Beleive it or not, Sister Davenport was just barely saying "Welcome class, who would like to say our opening prayer."

Stepping inside, I shattered the silence with my heavy breathing and found my way to my seat which is conveniently at the very front of the classroom. As I sat down and tried to blend into the wall, the tempurature of the warm room, after being outside in the cold, combined with my increased body heat created a wonderful sticky feeling, and fogged up my glasses.

I decided to excuse myself, and went to the bathroom where I removed my shirt and just stood for a while until my pulse was no longer the speed of a rabbit's.

I walked into class a second time, walked to the front, and blended into the wall. All in all, a nice morning.

In a place where I had previously designed to go..

On Thursday night. I decided to take my wheels out for a little fresh Rexburg air. I rode up the longest steepest hill in the town. But it was worth it because you will never beleive what I found at the very top: a temple!

I sat by the temple and read the stick of Ephriam for about an hour. It was cold and windy, but a very sweet experience. I think I will make that a tradition of mine.

Sometimes we can feel insignificant when we concider our size in relation to all of Lords's creations. It seems like the amount of attention that is on Alex Martinsen has got to be pretty small. But i have learned that we have to accept the fact that our minds were created in such a way that we wouldnt be able to understand all of the mysteries of God in this life. I do have the attention of my heavenly father. If there were no veil, we would have no reason to develop faith.

Pour that spiritual juice in a glass and drank it!!

Rollin on twenty-twos

This picture makes me laugh. Hard. When we purchased these fine bicyles in the Rexburg Wal-Mart, we were waiting on mine to be assembled. I had to go to the bathroom so I gave trent my money and told him to buy the bikes and meet me outside.

I later found out that he set his bike up on its kick stand about 6 feet from him and made it look like it was on display, and not like he was ready to buy it. When the second bike arrived, he painfully walked to the front of the store and bought them. Something about buying a shiny new mountain bike from Wal-mart, not to mention two matching ones, made him feel like his was 10 years old.

As we rode them home laughing the whole way, we became increasingly humbled by the second as car after car of college students drove by and stared. We got to Trent's house and he was vocally concidering rubbing dirt on his bike so it didnt look brand new. Hahaha.

Turns out the lady scene loves a man on a Dual shock power stroke 12 speed.... No.

Engulfed in Idahoan Life

I live in Alpine Chalet. Apartment number 5. I was awkwardly came to the realization, that i was PRACITCALLY CONCEIVED IN APARTMENT 5!! My parents met and dated at this school, and my father lived, where I now live.. And in case the word conveived means something different than I think it does, no i was not created until they were married... This is getting awkward..

OK. So my roomates are Brent Lenahan the 'Ohio bred babe magnet', Joseph (Joe) Morris, the 'recently returned Serbian missionary extrordinare' from Las Vegas, 'Immanuel the Great' -the super student from Blackfoot Idaho, and Trent Thompson, a gentleman and a scholar, from Gilbert Arizona!

If I do not include Trent Leland Thompson [who technically does not live in this apartment] in the list my list of roomates, he gives me a hurt, vulnerable, sensitive look.. The guy practically lives here anyway. .

My move to tater-ville

Attention fans everywhere.. Alex Martinsen will now be documenting his college life for you, so that all may share in the triumphs, the downfalls, and the emotions that will become his during his life in Idaho.

A few days before I moved, I graduated from High School.. Oh how grateful I am for our quality public education! (Sarcasm with just a touch of pure violence)

On Sunday evening, my brother from an Italian mother-Leland Trent Thompson, and I, embarked on a journey.... A Journey to Idaho.

This is a picture of us with our Nana. Trent and I flew our private-jets to SLC, where this kind woman picked us up and took us northward. She helped us not be completely clueless when it came to living on our own (which by the way sounds great to any frustrated young adult, but heed my words, living with your mom is a very, very, good thing)
